capitalisation: or lack of such. i know. you probably think its either laziness, or i’ve lost the shift key. bzzt. wrong. i made a conscious decision to not use rigorous capitalisation. when it comes to a semiotic analysis of the ‘image’ of language, capitalisation renders a word with more importance than the word (or the meaning inherent in the word) sometimes deserves. therefore, when writing in this diary, i reserve capitals for words that actually deserve it, and only when they deserve it.. (yes, this rule applies to my own name, and any other form of self referencing). i capitalise things like names (of both people and places), trademarks, etc, and when i’m adding emphasis, (capitalisation is especially good when the word doesn’t deserve the emphasis of bold or italic formatting, but needs to be stressed in some manner.) if that makes sense, i rock. if not, oh well.
